Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ mourns the loss of alumna, former long-time employee and friend, Veleria Shavers. 

Shavers earned a master’s degree in public administration at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. Shavers also had a 38-year career at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, serving in the areas of counseling and career placement, as well as student affairs. Shavers impacted thousands of students during her career. 

Shavers also served as staff regent on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board of Regents in 1994-95 and 1996-97. An active alumna, Shavers was a life member of the Kentucky State University National Alumni Association. 

Outside of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, Shavers was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky. 

Shavers also earned a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s in guidance and counseling from Tennessee State University. 

Visitation and funeral for Veleria Shavers occurred Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington and Lexington Cemetery.
