Applied learning, classroom scholarship, and faculty achievement anchored the annual
School of Business event
FRANKFORT, Ky. — More than 60 ĢƵ students brought their ideas
before faculty, peers, and judges April 30, using original research to examine applied
questions across academic disciplines and career fields.
The Tenth Annual Expree Student Research Day and Awards Banquet, hosted by the School
of Business and the Center for Economic Education and Financial Literacy in partnership
with Expree Credit Union, gave students an opportunity to present scholarly work,
receive feedback, and strengthen skills that extend beyond the classroom.
This year’s focus, “Linking Teaching and Research in the Classroom to Enhance Student
Learning Outcomes,” reflected the event’s emphasis on connecting academic instruction
with applied research and professional development.
Research areas included agriculture, artificial intelligence, business, climate, communication,
community and economic development, digital systems, economics, education, environmental
science, finance, food systems, geospatial science, GIS, human performance, land use,

The event was coordinated by Dr. Abdul Turay, professor of business and computational
